In the afternoon of the 13th of July, a room full of apprentices, proud parents and families, satisfied employers and committed sponsors gathered to congratulate the Victorian finalists of the NECA apprentice awards for 2011.
The Crown Casino provided a quality setting for the important event which showcased four 370° group finalists under 2 different categories of Industrial and Commercial/Domestic.
Graeme Mitchell, our 4th year apprentice took out the Industrial Award against strong competition. Graeme is currently working on the Desalination plant and is hosted to Thiess Degremont.
In the Commercial/Domestic award category, we employed 3 of the 5 finalists, Denis Hyland, Jeremy Schneider and Brenton Hill. The results revealed Denis as the Runner Up.
Denis has now completed his electrical apprenticeship and is working for Apps Electrics. Jeremy is currently hosted to JNJ Electrics and Brenton has been working with host employers such as Eascom Electrical, DESA Australia and PSG Elecraft.
May this prestigious event involving all apprentices in the State encourage the 370° group finalists to extend their career goals and aspirations, engage in further training and assist other apprentices entering the industry.
